Congratulations to our 2017 Winners
The American astronaut John Glenn, who died in December of last year at the age of 95, said, “If there is one thing I’ve learned in my years on this planet, it’s that the happiest and most fulfilled people I’ve known are those who devoted themselves to something bigger and more profound than merely their own self-interest.”
That pretty well sums up this year’s Community Builders Award winners: People who devote themselves to something bigger and more profound than merely their own self-interest.
Congratulations to our 2017 winners; we owe them so much for the good work they do. They are all modest and will be the first to tell you they could not have accomplished their goals without the help of other civicminded people.
I have a lot of thanking to do. First, I would like to thank the people I work with at Sudbury.com, Northern Life, Northern Ontario Business, the Events Division of Northern Ontario Business, and Sudbury Living. Tonight would not have happened without their hard work.
Our judges did a great job this year.
They spend hours of their time going over each nomination before selecting tonight’s winners. I would like to thank Jennifer Babin-Fenske, Rick Bartolucci, Michelle Cloutier, Peter Dal Bianco, Donna Gordon, Darlene Palmer, Paul Reid, and Jesse Winter.
I would also like to thank our sponsors who are the champions of the evening. Their participation cannot be underestimated. Thanks to Eastlink, Huntington University, Sudbury Theatre Centre, the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, Ashley Homestore Select, Dynamic Insurance, the Rainbow District School Board, Joy Global, and Vale.
Thank you to our advertisers, delegates, supporters and nominators who help us celebrate community leadership.
