With its global headquarters based right here in North Bay, Redpath Mining is a company known for its expertise in underground mining and construction. Since it was founded in 1962, Redpath has grown from a small operation to a major company working in many countries around the world.

On top of being a successful mining company, it’s a business that truly cares about the communities where it operates.

At the heart of Redpath’s success are its values: integrity, respect, teamwork and community. These values guide how the company does business and how it treats people.

For these reasons and more, Redpath Mining is a deserving recipient of this year’s BayToday Community Builders Award in Economic Development.

One of the biggest ways Redpath supports economic development in our community is by creating jobs. Whether it’s hiring local workers at a new mine site or offering training and development for long-term careers, Redpath helps people build skills and earn a living.

“It’s always great to receive recognition for doing good things and for performing well as a company. It’s especially great for our employees to receive such recognition because at the end of the day, it’s about the employees,” said Redpath Mining CEO George Flumerfelt.

“We’ve got a terrific employee base. They’re very committed and very dedicated to Redpath’s cause. They do tremendous work,” he added.

The company also takes pride in supporting the communities in which they work through sponsorships, bursaries and monetary donations.

In many regions, Redpath works closely with Indigenous communities, respecting their traditions and creating partnerships that benefit everyone involved.

Additionally, Redpath offers training programs that teach workers how to do their jobs safely and effectively. These programs help workers advance in their careers and improve their lives. Redpath’s strong focus on safety also means fewer accidents and healthier workplaces.

Redpath’s honest and responsible approach makes it a trusted partner in the mining industry and a positive force in the communities it serves.

Redpath Mining is a clear example of how a company can be successful while also doing good. By creating jobs, supporting local programs and working respectfully with communities, Redpath helps build a stronger, healthier economy.

The Economic Development award recognizes individuals or groups who have significantly enhanced the economic prosperity of the community through impactful contributions. These efforts may encompass leading and guiding committees, fostering the creation of social enterprises or new businesses, and executing essential infrastructure projects.

Congratulations to the team at Redpath Mining!
